Weekly Update Post For Thursday, February 15, 2018

Welcome! A massive wardrobe caught my eye this week as I was in the store to take photos - and so I decided to start there and it led me to checking out both new-to-us larger pieces as well as some that have been around for a while and now are marked down to some super duper low prices.

Speaking of markdowns - does NOT have a "set in stone" markdown policy. There are some pieces we think are priced well and should never be reduced - might be something unique or unusual (or might not) - and then some things we thought would sell at one price but didn't and we realize they need to be marked down (and then we monitor a step-down reduction). So, to any regular shoppers it's probably NOT going to make sense what gets marked down and what doesn't - but that's how we've been doing it since the store opened in 2006 ( just marked 12 years in operation! Crazy amazing!).

So, if there something you want to buy but you wanna wait until it's marked down - GREAT! - but bear in mind: A) it might not ever be marked down and B) someone else might buy it. Knowing your purchase is helping those most in need in DuPage County through the programs and services at Outreach Community Ministries should ease any pang you have at checkout!

Okay - so let's take a look at a bunch of wardrobes, china cabinets, curio cabinets and bookcases - with a few couches, chairs, dining tables and buffets thrown in the mix! As always - the following are just a FEW pieces in our current inventory!

so here's the wardrobe I HAD to start with - both because it's beautiful and it's so large you can't miss it! Ha! Scott Arthur Yerkey is a designer who - over the years - has created a number of pieces for his clients which then have been reproduced for others to purchase. deAurora - which has a showroom in The Merchandise Mart - is one of the few places I could find his pieces. ANYWAY - this wardrobe measures 72" wide by 24" deep and stand 96" tall. It's gorgeous. There are drawers, a rod and open spaces for WHATEVER you might need a place for.  We've priced it $1,700. It's well built. large and heavy. It's so heavy that we actually are NOT offering delivery - so if interested
you'd have to figure out how to get it home (did I mention it's massive? haha!). But,
oh my, once home it's so very handsome and such a quality piece!

next to tall, dark and handsome (and heavy!) are two matching bookcases.
Nice clean lines - great condition - priced $56.25 each (reduced 25% from $75).
Both bookcases are 32" wide x 17" deep and stand 7' tall

SWEET two piece china cabinet (and I found a matching buffet in another area of the store)
priced $45. Measures: 54 1/2" x 18" x 6'

I LOVE this two piece, lighted, Drexel china cabinet. Measures: 65" x 16 1/2" x 82". Currently priced $33.25 - that's a 65% mark down from its original $95 price

here's another neat, two piece, lighted china cabinet! Measures: 62 1/2" x 16" x 77".
Priced $33.75 - 25% off from original $45 price

cool metal chairs with upholstered seats. Some rust along the back edge (see last photo)
but otherwise in very good condition. Priced $95 for all four

at first glance I thought this was a cafe height glass table with FOUR stools around it (which it is)  - BUT - it's a 3' round glass cafe height table with TWO swivel stools for $115. The swivel stools that go with the table are 25" from floor to seat. The other two matching swivel stools are 29" from floor to seat and are priced $45 for the two of 'em. I hope that makes sense

wonderful small 30" square wood table with metal base and two chairs -
all in good condition - $45 for the set

here's the matching buffet to one of the china cabinets I showed you earlier.
It measures 44" x 18" x 33" from floor to top and is priced $45

nice, narrow cabinet - measures 30" x 12" x 34" and priced $45 - some dings in the wood

this is a SHOWSTOPPER of a dining set from Thomasville! Starting with a massive stone top buffet (71" x 20" x 42 1/2") for $265. Glass top table (46" x 80") with eight chairs (two with arms) for $295. Two piece, lighted china cabinet (6' wide by 18" deep by 86" tall - though the top trim would make it wider and deeper) for $195. Everything is in excellent condition

Burlington House Furniture, two piece, lighted china cabinet. Measures: 69 1/2" x 19" x 80" tall. I LOVE the black painted interior which would make anything you put in there really pop!
Priced $45 which is 40% the original $75 price

GORGEOUS, mirrored backed, lighted curio cabinet with side access (on both sides).
Measures: 36 1/2" x 14" x 80' tall. Priced $131.25 which is 25% off the original $175 price

amazing Century merk leather sofa - some wear (but that good kind) - priced $455

this "knockdown" (called that because it's easy to take down, move and put back together) wardrobe is from the 1800's! It's amazing! Measures: 50" x 18 1/2" x 78' and is priced $695
(again the top trim is wider, deeper than the "body" of the piece)

why this GORGEOUS Walter E. Smithe, lighted, one piece cabinet hasn't sold - I don't understand! I LOVE the gold leaf back! It's a beautiful piece! Measures: 4' across by 18" deep by 81" tall.
Priced $113.75 which is 65% off the original $325 price!

fabulous "leaf" patterned sofa - excellent condition - priced $175

another STUNNING piece! Retro Dillingham, lighted, one piece bookcase. Measures: 57" x 16" x 76" and is currently priced $148.75 which is 65% off the original $425 price

two EXCELLENT condition BarcaLounger swivel recliners. Leather/pleather mix.
Work great! Priced $265 each

if we had a third sized rocker we'd have a cool scene from Goldilocks and the Three Bears!
Sweet child's rockers priced $20 each

this piece is in "bedroom land" but it's really a lovely buffet (though the drawers
and shelves need a good clean out) - priced $95

has an incredible volunteer board and at our monthly board meeting earlier this week - it was brought up that a lot of people don't know about our Serta mattresses - so I thought I'd do a quick "public service reminder" (if you know all about 'em - you can skip the rest of this post! And - have a nice day! Ha!).

We are extremely grateful for a relationship we've had with Serta for the last five or six years. Their Research and Development office - in Hoffman Estates - will periodically donated the mattresses they're made. These mattresses are their prototypes (like a pattern) - never been used but can't be sold as "new." They're all queen size and retail between $1,000 and $3,000! It's an unbelievable donation! What follows are some of the prices on a few of the ones we currently have in our inventory:

Phew! Feels like a "heavy" post with LOTS of measurements and lots of markdown/original priced pieces - but I hope you've found something that perks your interest and causes you to come in the store, dear reader! We're so very grateful for your patronage!
