Welcome and thanks for stopping by the blog where each week I (Susan Galbraith) provide photos, pricing and descriptions of SOME of our current inventory!
This week is no exception though I want to start by filling you in on some personnel changes at the store.
Mike Kuhn is one month in as our Training Coordinator/Assistant Store Manager. You'll see Mike primarily in our warehouse as he mentors and trains the students participating in our Employment Opportunity Center but - especially on Friday evenings - you'll also see him up front in the showroom (helping as needed along with our incredible volunteers!).
After spending the last 26 years as a youth pastor, Mike is uniquely gifted and skilled to work with our students. He - and his lovely wife - have three kids of their own. Fun fact: Mike told me his grandfather owned a furniture store - so it feels a bit like carrying on a family legacy with Mike now working at !
And what did John and team pickup this week? Excellent question! Let's take a look at - again - SOME of our current inventory:
And then before I wrap up, dear reader, Connie wanted me to let you know she's planning a number of "deals of the day" for this weekend! So, keep an eye out for some EVEN BETTER THAN NORMAL prices (how is that even possible?!). Take care!

Mike Kuhn - Training Coordinator/Assistant Store Manager
So glad you're part of the team, Mike!
After four years as 's Transportation Coordinator (the person who - with the help of an assistant - is out picking up all of our furniture donations) Cameron Foster stepped down last week in order to begin law school in the fall. Since my main job is handling the screening and scheduling of donation pickups - I was especially sad to see Cam go. He did a fantastic job in a really challenging position (think: carefully moving furniture in ALL kinds of weather with a smile!).
However, I'm thrilled that John Hilare - who has worked with Cam for several years - has a break from school until January and could immediately step into the role!
you might see this smiling face behind the wheel of one of our trucks as John - along with an assistant - is out Monday through Friday making donation pickups!
two piece (sofa and RIGHT chaise) Style-Line sectional. Very cool
animal print looking upholstery. Some minor wear. Priced $325
oh my goodness! This two piece leather sectional with a large ottoman was purchased about six years ago from Macy's for $6,000! There's some wear - but overall in excellent condition!
Priced $1,995 for both the sectional and the ottoman
cool antique table - measures 22" x 28" and stands 30 1/2"
from floor to table top. Priced $125
did I show you this lovely cabinet before? It's really beautiful! Would work great in an entry or dining room or living room or put your flat screen TV on it - so many options! Ha! Priced $295
two sweet side chairs - some minor fading - priced $45 each
I know the Hollywood Regency style is not for everyone - but boy-oh-boy just look at these pieces! We removed the custom plastic covers that were on the sofa and both chairs. So this upholstery is like new! It's amazing! Two piece sofa by Homer Bros. Inc. is priced $495 and there are gold threads in the upholstery! Side chairs - also by Homer Bros. Inc. - are each $195. The chairs look a little faded in my photos - but they aren't in person. All the pieces have 6" of fringe along the bottom
(I actually measured it). So, so cool! LOVE!
and then what's a living room without somewhere to set your martini? Haha! Oval coffee table for $225 and two - two tiered end tables are $145 each (sorry for the bad photos! The end tables are actually tucked UNDER our grand piano and it was hard to get a good photo)
incredible mirror for $155
it looks like a dining set - but these six mid-century modern dining chairs (two with arms) are priced separately from the table. Chairs are $275 (some wear along the top of the chairs). Table (measures 58" long and 40" at its widest) and one leaf (17 1/2") for $145.
Overall, all the pieces are in good condition
amazing trunk for $175
this two piece china cabinet with metal trim really caught my eye (in a good way).
Cool looking AND lots of storage = win in my book! Priced $125
Oh my! Look at this! Reads: "336 is to certify that this article was purchased
from May's Rattan Works". Priced $65
And then we currently have some STUNNING area rugs in the store. They haven't all been sized (and several are VERY LARGE) but you can see the pattern and price of a number of them:
And a few other things in "bedroom land" I wanted to show you:
fun three panel fabric screen for $25
wonderful, well worn church pew for $145
fabulous curved church pew for $175
wonderful twin-over-twin bunk bed with ladder - excellent condition - priced $175
This post is already ridiculously long - so I took a number of photos that simply show you how much high end casual furniture we currently have in stock - all from the showrooms at the Merchandise Mart! We picked up at The Mart SIX times in the last week - so some new pieces that weren't here even one week ago!
